Recent floods in Bangladesh have left millions of people homeless.
The mid-June floods came after a pre-monsoon flash flood that devastated communities in northern and north-eastern Bangladesh, in May. Fresh rains swamped the same places again in June, just as the region was beginning to recover from the trauma. Currently, the people in the areas affected are cut off from accessing food, water and other essential supplies. Crops and roads are completely destroyed.

‘Do not show lethargy or negligence in giving alms and charity till your last breath.’

Ummah Hands Emergency Relief

Ummah Hands emergency response teams are on the ground, assisting hundreds of people who have lost everything overnight. Ummah Hands relief projects are delivering
food, water and medical assistance to people in the worst affected areas.
But there is so much more needed, and with more rains expected, the needs will only increase. With water levels still high in many areas, and the ground being saturated, more rain would be catastrophic. Without access to safe drinking water, people will be forced to drink contaminated water. Water-borne diseases could reach epidemic proportions.

We need your URGENT help.

The Plight of Bangladesh – Your Sadaqah can make a Difference

We need your help. Donate your Sadaqah and earn rewards, knowing that you are helping people who are desperate.

The Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘Sadaqah extinguishes sins as water extinguishes fire.’ (Tirmidhi)

According to the flood forecasting and warning centre in Dhaka (the capital of Bangladesh), water levels in all major rivers across the country had been rising over the preceding weeks. Of the approximately 130 rivers in the country, many were already at capacity. They overflowed bursting their banks and flooding surrounding areas completely. The reality is that Bangladesh, as a low-lying country, is susceptible to climate- related natural disasters such as floods and cyclones. According to the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, roughly 17% of Bangladesh’s population will need to relocate in the next decade if global warming continues at its current rate. PEOPLE NEED URGENT HELP!

Build a House

Right now, millions of Bangladeshis are trapped and cannot be reached except by
boat. Others have lost their homes, which have been washed away with whatever
possessions they had. Power and telecommunications grids are no longer operational. And with roads and transport networks down, rescue efforts are being hampered, and the real number of people affected is not yet known. The already dire situation is expected to worsen in the worst-affected Sunamganj and Sylhet districts,
as well as Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Nilphamari, and Rangpur.
We are builing houses in the flood affected areas of Sunamganj district. You can build a small house with your zakah or sadaqah.

To date, forty-one people have died as a result of the floods, but this number is bound to rise if we cannot reach survivors with emergency aid.
