‘The one who recites the Qur’an and acts upon it, on the Day of Qiyamah his
parents will be made to wear a crown whose light is better than the light of the
sun had it been in the dwellings of the world, so what do you think (of the
reward) of the person himself?’
(Abu Dawud)
The first Hafidh was Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Qur’an was revealed to him
(PBUH), as a guidance for all of mankind. He (PBUH) would memorise and recite the
Qur’an to Angel Jibra’eel once a year, except in his final year when he (PBUH)
recited it twice. The Prophet (PBUH) also encouraged us, his ummah to recite and
memorise it:
‘A person who recites the Qur’an and has memorised it, will be with noble
scribes (Angels/Prophets), in Jannah.’ (Bukhari)
